Our Judging Philosophy
We celebrate the remarkable bond between horse and rider. Our judging process prioritises the quality of communication over the perfection of movement, rewarding partnerships that demonstrate genuine trust, mental relaxation, and mutual understanding in the bridleless arena. Individual movements are scored the same as in a standard dressage test, however our collectives are uniquely outlined for bridleless riding.
HARMONY & PARTNERSHIP (/10)
How well horse and rider work together as a team. The overall picture of trust, cooperation and mutual understanding.
COMMUNICATION & EFFECTIVENESS (/10)
The clarity, subtlety and effectiveness of the rider’s aids. How easily the horse appears to understand and respond.
RELAXATION & CONFIDENCE (/10)
The horse’s mental state throughout the test. A relaxed, willing and confident horse should be rewarded.
ACCURACY (/10)
Accuracy of the test, use of the arena & correctness of movements.
